This section gives you a summary of the Tenant Empowerment Programme grants you can get and the process you need to go through to get a grant. If you’re not sure what sort of grant you are interested in, you can see the different options on the overview of tenant control. • Right-to-manage grants (for local authority and Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) tenants)
• Tenant-led stock option grants (if you want to look into ownership options).
• Local management agreement grants (if you want to take control of just one service)

We strongly recommend that you read both the information on this section of the website and two very informative booklets published by the Department of Communities and Local Government. (In both these documents, please read ‘Tenant Services Authority’ in place of ‘Housing Corporation’. The Housing Corporation was the organisation we replaced.) The two booklets are:

• Residents Choice, which contains further advice on all the options available through the Tenant Empowerment Programme, and
• Local Choice, Local Control. which is the statutory guidance on tenant management for local authorities and local authority tenants.
