How we regulate

In this section, you can find out more about how we regulate the work of social housing landlords to ensure that they are well run, financially stable and provide high-quality services to tenants.

You can also find out how to register with us as a social housing provider.

The standards social housing landlords must meet
Tenants, landlords and other stakeholders have helped us to shape the standards that now apply to all social housing providers. There are six standards that landlords have to meet.

Other regulatory requirements
We have withdrawn around 1,000 pages of requirements on landlords made by our predecessor, the Housing Corporation. Just four Housing Corporation Circulars have been retained.

Co-regulation
Our standards refer to co-regulation. Find out more about what we mean by this.

Financial regulation
Part of our work involves making sure that housing associations are financially viable and well governed. Find out how we go about this and read the latest reviews of the housing association sector’s financial performance.

How to register with us
Do you want to become a registered housing provider? Read how to register with the TSA.

How to de-register
The TSA is responsible for registering and regulating providers of social housing. Only registered providers are subject to the TSA's regulation.
