Housing information

We collect and store a lot of information about the homes which housing associations own and manage, the lettings and sales they carry out, and their key spending. Some of our information is used mainly by us but some is also used more widely to provide information and research about social housing as a whole.

We get most of our information from the following sources

CORE (continuous recording) is a national information source funded jointly by us and the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG). It records information on the features of the tenants of both housing associations and local authority new social housing and the homes they rent and buy.

Here is a factsheet for Core.

You can find full details and the latest analysis from CORE at the CORE website.

The RSR survey (Regulatory and Statistical Returns) is a yearly event where every registered housing association take parts in a census which gathers information about:

  • the type and amount of housing stock they own and manage
  • numbers of lettings
  • rents and service charges
  • number and reasons for vacancies
  • aquisitions
  • sales and
  • much more.

Here is a factsheet for RSR.

You can find full details and latest analysis from RSR at the RSR website.

NROSH (National Register Of Social Housing) collects information about social-housing properties from England's local authorities (LAs) and registered social landlords (RSLs).

We gather information about registered social landlords' main performance indicators (PIs). You can find more details and the latest analysis from PIs on the performance indicators pages.
