NROSH data field definitions

Please note that from noon on the 1st April 2010 the new NROSH website can be found at

http://nrosh.tenantservicesauthority.org

The data field definitions document provides a comprehensive list of all the NROSH data fields, the information required and the standards to which the data must conform.  This enables the XML output file to be correctly formatted.

Download Release 4 NROSH data field definitions (R4 is required to meet 2009 targets)

It should be used in the following way:

  1. Identify the fields in your housing management system (HMS) which equate to the NROSH mandatory and priority fields.
  2. Look in the field definitions to ensure that your data provide the information being requested ie does the field in your HMS accurately answer the question being asked in the field definition?
  3. Examine the allowable format and values (eg acceptable field lengths, mix of characters allowed, acceptable numeric ranges).  If the data in your HMS is not consistent with these values, it may need to be modified.
  4. Map the fields you have identified from your HMS to the NROSH data standard using the NROSH toolkit you have chosen.

Please check our FAQs for detailed queries about the data field definitions, or contact the appropriate help desk service.

Although the data field definitions include all fields possible across all housing types, we recommend that you concentrate initially on the mandatory and priority data fields.

If you are developing your own XML output file (DIY option) rather than using a NROSH toolkit, you also need to refer to the NROSH XML schema.
